SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is the most widely used technology and process in the modern PCB manufacturing and assembly industry. SMT components lack wire leads and are soldered directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This technology enables smaller, more densely packed components, and delivering faster production times and lower overall costs.
SMT requires a stencil to apply solder paste onto a PCB. This step is critical in SMT assembly because solder paste volume directly affects soldering quality. At Fanway, we conduct automated Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) before component placement to ensure precise paste deposition.
Although SMT is widely used in modern PCB manufacturing and assembly, Through-Hole Technology (THT) still plays an irreplaceable role in applications requiring high reliability, high power output, and mechanical stress resistance.
